Blood Flow Restriction

Be the first to experience the latest in muscle recovery and strength enhancement. BFR rehabilitation is a highly effective method that can be used in a diverse population and is becoming one of the most sought after tools in rehabilitation and athlete enhancement alike.

Elite athletes looking to boost their performance or patients recovering from a surgery to regain strength from a disability, BFR rehabilitation may be the best choice of treatment. Currently, BFR rehabilitation is being used by military rehabilitation programs and Professional Sports Teams with proven results. Our treatment professionals use the most advanced and evidence based medical devices on the market.

Leading research has found that BFR use can:

  • Give you similar results as lifting heavy weights while only lifting 30% of your maximum lifting weight

  • Show muscle growth in just 3 weeks - rather than the normal 8 weeks

  • Improve muscle endurance in ⅓ of the time

  • Enhance protein synthesis in the aging population

  • Diminish atrophy and loss of strength from sedentary lifestyles or prolonged bed-rest

  • Increase the body’s natural production of growth hormones by up to 300%

  • Avoid stress on joints and soft tissue

  • Provide faster recovery

  • Allow greater strength gains while reducing overall stress on the limb

Understand the science behind this groundbreaking treatment technique by contacting our certified professionals. Try this FDA approved alternative method of exercise to receive the strength and muscle growth you would see from heavy lifting while using very light weights in a controlled environment.

Injured Worker:

If you are injured at work and are unable to perform your duties without pain or frustrating limitations, we can help you. We work as a team to develop personalized interventions based on a patient’s needs and goals to allow for a timely return to work. Work simulated treatments may consist of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and activities, and ergonomics training.

Our L&I Work Conditioning Program uses physical and functional activities related to work to address the specific needs of the worker. This intensive program consists of 1-2 hours of physical therapy 3-5 times per week for 4 weeks.

Our Physical Therapy team tailors the Work Conditioning Program to your workplace needs. We work toward lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, and walking tolerances that you will need to accomplish in order to return to your job without risking inflammation or further injury.

Cardiopulmonary:

Once a patient has been discharged from a hospital setting rehabilitation center, it is common to refer for continued therapy in an outpatient setting.  Our patients who need oxygen or suffer from breathing difficulties including emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis, and pulmonary fibrosis can significantly benefit from physical therapy.  We implement a plan of care designed to address deficits in breathing and help you overcome your physical limitations associated with your pulmonary dysfunction.

Physical therapy improves your endurance and gives you strategies to be more active with less difficulty resulting in more energy and improved tolerance to carrying out activities of daily living. We emphasize regaining activity tolerance and independence.

Cancer:

Physical Therapy before, during, and after chemotherapy or radiation treatment has great benefits for patients who are battling cancer.  Studies have shown that those who have undergone physical therapy prior to their first cancer treatment have an improved tolerance to performing daily life activities.  In post-treatment interviews, patients report less pain, higher energy levels, and fewer recovery days needed during courses of cancer treatment than those patients who did not have regular physical therapy.

Our team is committed to working with you to reduce discomfort and maintain as much normal activity as possible.  Physical Therapists and their assistants work one-on-one with each patient throughout their entire journey into recovery.

Orthotics:

Our Therapist will evaluate your walk and stance to best fit your orthotics. Foot orthotics are fitted shoe inserts that help cushion heel strike forces, support your arch, and provide proper foot and leg alignment.  We offer over the counter orthotics or custom fitted orthotics.

Custom orthotics:  Individually made using a casting of your foot.  These are typically more expensive than over the counter orthotics, but provide greater support and comfort.  Some insurances may cover a portion of the expense for custom orthotics.

Over the counter orthotics:  Generic inserts designed to fit your general foot type.  These are inexpensive and can typically be dispensed the same day your foot is evaluated.

Aquatic Therapy:

The benefits of aquatic physical therapy are numerous. The chief benefit is the pool’s variant weight environment with the water supporting between 25 and 100% of total body weight. This alleviates joint stress and pain allowing the patient to move more freely through their exercises and build muscle. The hydrostatic pressure of the water helps reduce swelling and stimulates blood flow. Our Aquatic Therapists focus on each patient’s needs in one-on-one therapy to maximize the benefits of the aquatic environment and help you realize your best quality of life.
